Aspirin Reduces Chances of Heart Related Death

The results of a recent study are in and they show that aspirin does even more than just save your life during a heart attack.

Studies have long showed that taking low doses of aspirin daily reduces the severity of a heart attack, stroke and reduces the chances of death from having a heart attack. Now studies are showing that those same low doses can prevent the heart attack from occurring in the first place, death from occurring or prevent a second heart attack from occurring.

Now this study is only for those people who have a stable heart condition and more studies need to be done in order to see how other heart patients might be affected by the use of aspirin. All people considering an aspirin regime need to consult a doctor before beginning the regime.

Aspirin therapy has shown to reduce the odds of dying during a second heart attack by 13 % and reduced the odds of having a stroke or dying during a stroke by 25%.

Low doses of aspirin is defined as 50 to 100 mg per day and have shown to be more effective than high doses of aspirin like 300 mg or more a day. More aspirin can actually raise the chances of dying during a heart attack because the aspirin taken at high doses can weaken the heart muscles.

Aspirin works as a blood thinner and the more blood thinner your body possesses the more likely it is to bleed and have trouble stopping. The last thing one needs when having a heart attack is a hemorrhage, which is exactly what will occur if there is too much aspirin in the blood, which as we all know flows through the heart.

Once again, all people considering an aspirin regime need to consult a doctor before beginning the regime.
