Medications are strange fellows, used properly they help us maintain a healthy balance. Abused, they could likely poison or kill us.
How do I determine if the benefits of a medication outweigh the risks?
My suggestion is try natural treatments and remedies if possible. OTC medicine can be helpful, but I believe it should be used only in necessity. You may wonder what do I mean, so let me explain.
- We should not run to a doctor every time we get the sniffles or stub a toe.
- Often for a fever, a cool washcloth can help break the fever.
- The FDA themselves have found many risk factors in OTC medicines, I believe they should be a last resort.
Disclaimer:
These are merely suggestions and I am in no way advocating the abandonment of orthodox treatments, only that they, as well as any natural treatments that are used should be used with caution, and only after consulting your health care professional.
Cheers to you and your health.
