Here are few herbs that are beneficial for prostate health:

  1. Bearberry

    Traditionally used as diuretic, but as it contains flavonoids and a substance called arbutin which converts in the human body to droquinone, it is also a urinary disinfectant. Hydroquinone is poisonous at high doses, but bearberry is safe for short-term treatment of prostate gland infection.
  2. Couch Grass

    Also known as witch grass, among other names, this herb is specifically used to treat prostatitis as well as urinary tract infections and urinary stones. Couch grass is rich in oils, and contains vitamins A and B, and other valuable compounds such as iron. It is a soothing diuretic with antibiotic properties.
  3. Echinacea

    Known for its immune-boosting properties, which are due to its mix of essential oils and other potent plant chemicals. Echinacea is used in the treatment of infections generally.
  4. Goldenseal

    Is effective in treating urinary and kidney infections and stones. Goldenseal has cleansing actions that stem from its mixture of essential oils, flavonoids, tannins and saponins.
  5. Horsetail

    Offers a storehouse of minerals useful in treating prostatitis. BPH, cystitis and urinary stones. Saponins are also found in this herb, probably contributing their antimicrobe and hormone-mimicking properties when horsetail is used as remedy.
