Formulae have been developed that combine supplements which specifically address prostate problems. The following quatity guidelines are frequently recommended:
Zinc Picolinate
Take 15-30 mg daily (increase to 60 mg for prostatitis until symptoms subside).
Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine)
Take 50-100 mg daily. Always take vitamin B complex, too, when you take vitamin supplement. Some B-complex "stress" formulas include higher amounts of B6 and B5.
Alanine, Glycine, Glutamic Acid
Take 200 mg daily of these amino acids. Take your glutamic acid in the form of glutamine, which the body will convert to glutamic acid as needed.
Vitamin C
Take 1,000 mg three times daily. Increase this triple dose to 2,000 mg at th onset of prostatitis. Vitamin C intake can be increased until it causes diarrhea (then back the dose off), as the body's requirement for this vitamin varies considerably with illness and stress.
Individual requirements vary, so be prepared to monitor your progress and seek advice from a knowledgeable health-care professional.
