Top Five Things You Should be Doing as a Man Everyday in the Bathroom

From the desk of Colonel James Slate.

Shaving with a disposable razor

Every morning as a guy, you owe it to yourself to shave with a nice disposable razor, not a Bic, but something a bit more high quality, something along the lines of the dual blade Schick, or another higher quality razor. The reason for this is that even though there are several top of the line, non-disposable razors, such as the Mach 3, or the Fusion, the cheap 10 to 15 in a pack disposable razor usually do a better job. Yes, you can get razor burn easier, but as a man, you owe it to yourself to have a nice razor that will last at least a week, using it every day, that will give you a nice clean smooth shave. Also, by using a nice disposable razor you get several for a lot cheaper than one or two heads of a high quality, non-disposable razor.

Shave with shave soap and a brush

Every morning as a guy, you again, owe it to yourself to shave with old fashion mug shaving soap of any kind, it gives a rich lather, and it smoothes your whiskers, making it easier for your razor to pick them up and cut them. The new gels and lathers from a can work to pull your whiskers forward, but a nice shaving soap can pull them forward, and make them softer, allowing you cut them easily and almost resistance free. Also get a nice boar bristle brush to apply the lather from said shave soap, not only is it soothing to your face every time you use it, but it also helps move your whiskers into place to be cut easily. And besides that, it's cheaper than gel and cans, and how many of your guy friends can brag that you are a real man and shave with real soap and a real brush.

Use a cool refreshing aftershave

Every morning as a guy, you also owe it to yourself after shaving to apply a nice cool and probably minty aftershave. A fresh and cool aftershave as opposed to a heavy scent laden aftershave refreshes your whole body, your whole face. It also reduces the risk of any type of dirt or extras getting into your pores, and causing small and annoying acne or pimple problems.

Looking in the mirror and asking questions

Every morning as a guy, you should get up, shave, use your nice razor that you got for cheap and works great, use your soap and brush, and then use your nice aftershave. After you do all that, which doesn't take very long every morning, you should look into the mirror, right into your eyes, and ask yourself, "Who do I want to be today?" and then ask yourself, "What am I doing to be that person right now?" If you ask yourself those questions, every day, you'll work harder to achieve what you want, and you'll know exactly what you want to do in life for that day. It lets you know what you should do to make yourself a better man.

Put on a nice shirt and nice pants

Every morning as a guy, after shaving, questioning and getting ready, you should find a nice shirt, maybe just a plain white t-shirt, and a nice pair of pants, even a good pair of jeans, and go back to the mirror and look yourself over. After you have all this, you're all shaved, cleaned, and you look quite good, comb your hair, clean your teeth, and get ready to go. Always remember to tell yourself that you great, and you will do great things today.

With all five of these complete, you've started your day out great, you feel good, and you look good. You know what you want to accomplish today, you know how to do it, and you now have the confidence to do it. Remember looking great in the morning makes you look great all day, ten to fifteen minutes every morning will yield you greater results in everything that you do from now on.

James Slate does it, you should too.
