Duct Tape and Depression

Have you ever wondered how you're going to deal with the side effects of the drugs you take for depression, never mind how you are going to recover from the crushing depression you find yourself in?

Have you ever watched TV? I haven't watched it for a few years now, but there used to be a show called the Red Green Show where they had all kinds of bizarre fix-it episodes using duct tape. Ha, well, I sometimes think that pharmaceuticals are like duct tape. They provide this same bizarre quick fix without really repairing anything. Things are still broken only they are duct taped together. Take antidepressants, they provide a quick fix without repairing your brain chemistry which would end your depression. Alas, looking down the road to the future, you're still on them because your brain chemistry is still "broken. Talk about creating a chronic illness!

If you suffer from depression, you"re not alone: Over 19 million Americans have been diagnosed-particularly a large number of seniors. The National Institute of Mental Health estimates that, in any given year, about one out of every ten American adults suffers some form of major depression, and the World Health Organization estimates the annual cost of depression in the United States exceeds $43.7 billion. Starting around age 40, the level of an enzyme called monoamine oxidase (MAO) increases. This increase is directly related to aging and depression because MAO breaks down the very chemicals that keep you relaxed and happy (such as dopamine, epinephrine, and norepinephrine). The best way to combat depression is to keep balanced levels of MAO. The patented plant extracts called Serenix and Seroctin may help the body do just that in a full spectrum cellular renewal formula.

GABA levels in the occipital cortex are also altered in people with depressive and anxiety states. GABA or Gamma Aminobutyric Acid is an amino acid which is the most important and abundant naturally occurring inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain. It is estimated that close to 40% of the synapses in the human brain work with GABA and therefore have GABA receptors. GABA helps calm us down but it is theorized that if the transmission of it is compromised, you can become depressed. There is also strong evidence in the scientific literature that GABA is involved in depression. For instance, if scientists block the enzyme that breaks down GABA, resulting in more GABA around in the synapse, or if they activate GABA receptors through the administration of agonist drugs, depression decreases.

Serenix and Seroctin may offer a safe, natural alternative, in cooperation with other therapies, in a market where plenty of “natural” band-aids or chemical crutches (whether prescription or illegal substances) alter or enhance mood but do nothing to correct the underlying imbalanced brain biochemistry. Many even have disastrous side effects. The plant extracts combined with a stare of the art cellular renewal formula naturally brings the body to a state of repair, lifting the mood and enhancing feelings of well-being, possibly reducing the need for products with dangerous side effects. Wouldn't you rather put something in your body that that has been proven by double blind, placebo controlled human studies and save your duct tape for Red Green?
