The term "stress" is how a person mentally and physically responds to certain situations in life. Throughout life, we are faced with challenges, obstacles and changes. Sometimes a person is unable to cope with certain situations, and this results in a person becoming stressed.

How do you know if you are stressed? Well, there are some common signs that you can look for that may indicate that you are stressed. These signs include the following: feeling depressed, guilty, tired, headaches, trouble sleeping, upset stomach, sweating, problems breathing and chronic fatigue. You may not experience all of these symptoms, but these symptoms are good indicators that your body is undergoing stress.

It is important to identify what is causing the stress in your life. Once you identify the "stressors," you can begin working on stress-reduction techniques (ways to reduce the stress). Please note that stress is not always caused by negative events, such as losing a job, going through a divorce, or the death of a relative or friend. Those particular stressors may creative negative stress. However, there is also positive stress, which results from positive changes in your life. Some examples of positive changes are planning a wedding, having a baby and starting a new job. Sometimes people think that stress is a result of negative situations, but as you can see, stress can result from positive situations as well.

It is also important to pay attention to your stress levels and know what events trigger the stress. There are various things that can cause stress. So, once you identify what is causing the stress, you can create ways to reduce and eliminate the stress. Below is a list of stress- reduction techniques that may assist you in reducing unnecessary stress from your life.

  1. Take Hot Baths

Taking a hot bath can help you relax mentally and physically.
  2. Eat Healthy and Exercise

Following a healthy diet and exercise plan can keep you feeling good and energized.
  3. Deep Breathing Exercises

Deep breathing exercises can help your body relax too. You can also try yoga or meditation.
  4. Pamper Yourself

It's a good idea to treat yourself sometimes to something special or to a day of fun. You can pamper yourself by going to the movies or to the spa, buying yourself some new shoes or attire, taking a vacation, etc.
