Epilepsy is a problem affecting the brain, symbolized by recurring and uncontrolled seizures. Some of the symptoms of epilepsy are uncontrolled movements of the body, disorientation or confusion, sudden fear, or loss of consciousness. Epilepsy may occur due to a head injury, stroke, brain tumor, lead poisoning, genetic conditions, or severe infections like encephalitis.
Epilepsy is just a condition and not a disease. Epilepsy is not a contagious condition.
Epilepsy has got nothing to do with “mental derangement” or “mental illness” like some societies of the world tends to believe!
Rather the epilepsy afflicted people are very special, and are specially blessed by God! Most of them are outstanding in at least one field or the other, especially in the creativity field! The seizure does not seek out an appointment with the afflicted person, before putting in on an appearance, which is a real hindrance in the daily life! Unexpectedly things come to a halt for a few minutes or for a few hours. Then again, the things goes back to normal! Life goes on!
The society should learn to treat the epilepsy afflicted person in the most normal way, because such people are the contributors to the growth, culture, economy, arts and sciences, education and entertainment of the society. They are rather contributors in the wide spectrum of all the segments of the society as such!
Let's learn to respect people without passing judgments on the basis of rumors, gossips, the stories appearing in the media and the works! If at all anyone deserves to be respected for their stupendous talents they are the people with the epilepsy condition!
