We all know that computers can be a source of stress when things go wrong with them, but did you know you can use your computer to help relieve stress? Yes, believe it or not, that expensive piece of technology that rests on your desktop can be used to make your world tranquil again, even if you're completely stressed out. Here are some computer stress relief tips you can use to make your surroundings peaceful again:

Play a computer game

Computer games can be an excellent way to help relieve stress. Studies are now showing that video games have positive effects on stress levels, serving as a brief escape from an otherwise bleak existence. Some computer games take you into a fantasy world which can give your brain a break from the problems of every day reality. The key is to limit your computer gaming to no more than thirty minutes per day, otherwise you run the risk of becoming addicted which can be stressful in itself.

Write an encouraging email to yourself

Are you feeling stress because you have yet to complete your goals? A good way to clear your mind is to write a brief email congratulating yourself on what you've accomplished so far. Make a list of the goals you've achieved as well as your positive attributes and skills. This can be a great catharsis and will help you to eliminate any perceived doubts about your ability which may be causing you stress. Once you've completed your email, send it to yourself and read it when you start to feel stressed.

Listen to music online

There are a variety of sites online that will allow you to download and listen to free music. If talk is more relaxing to you, tune in to one of the internet radio stations and listen to some comedy or other mellow conversation.

Voice your opinion on newsgroups

There are newsgroups and forums focused on almost any topic you can imagine. If you love nature and the outdoors, head over to one of the forums devoted to nature lovers. You can find these sites by doing a quick Google search. Spend some time reading posts and responding. Just be sure to avoid sites dealing with politics or religion, you may get into a heated discussion that will surely raise your stress level.

Start a blog on the topic of your choice

Go to Blogger and start a blog focusing on a topic you're passionate about. When your stress levels start to climb, take a brief break and update your blog with new information. It can be relaxing writing about something you truly enjoy.
