The effects of stress can be frightening. You can get sick, ruin relationships, and lose your job. Here's how to better navigate away from stressors in your life, manage stress before it manages you.
Identify the Stressors
What ticks you off can be damaging. Before deciding to act, identify first what might have caused your pain in the neck, or the ache in your stomach.
Right Prescription
Your doctor cannot and probably will not attend to your every groan. If you are able to distinguish your stressor, it is not hard to self-prescribe. Oops! This doesn't mean you take any medicine. You may only need to sit down and relax. Breathe in and breathe out, and before you know it, you're up to do your tasks again.
Meditate
Sometimes a five minute breathing exercise is not enough, especially when you are dealing with a huge problem. You need to focus on clearing your mind. Walk to the park or visit your massage therapist to help you relax. Listen to tranquility music and let the negative thoughts out of your mind. Learn yoga or shibashi as wells.
Get Some Company
Go to the gym and produce sweat. Go to a country club, swim for half an hour or play golf with your buddies. You can even call a friend to join you on your tea or coffee break. Talk about what's bothering you and ask some help. Your friend might have gone through the same thing and he or she can share with you his or her success story.
Concentrate on Important Things
Your mind gets crowded with a lot of unfinished tasks, and it's getting hard to pay attention to details. List down the things you need to accomplish for the day. Attend to the most important before jumping to the next. If you are able to follow the sequence, you will avoid repeating going through the painstaking effects of stress.
