Mind Exercise

What if you were walking and you saw a dog chasing a little boy across the street. A car was coming and the driver saw what was happening and purposely hit the dog with his vehicle.

Was he wrong? Should he have just minded his business of or did he potentially save a life by taking one? Should the dog owner have the right to press charges for murdering his/her dog? These are the moral questions people are forced to answer within their mind each and everyday.

What if an innocent man was sentenced to life behind bars for murdering someone? After he served his sentence and was released on parole, he then actually did murder someone. Do you think he deserves to be put back in prison? If you answered yes, you must believe that jail is the only thing that can legally punish a murderer, unless of course you believe in the death penalty. If he was sentenced as a murderer, served his time like a murderer and didn't actually murder anyone, how is it fair for him to go to jail for the second time? Should it matter that he served his time in advance? For those of you that do believe in the death penalty, you must know that if you can wrongfully imprison man/women, you can also wrongfully put man/women to death.

For as long as I can remember I've always been told that “two wrongs don't make a right”. Isn't that the most applicable example? Instead of trying to positively change the life that has done wrong, both lives are wasted. If someone is wrongfully executed, who should be punished for that life taken? An innocent man was killed and nobody had to take responsibility for that action. These examples are not exact situations. These are just a few things to get your mind exercising a little bit. Challenge yourself to have an opinion. Challenge yourself to challenge yourself. Believe in something and know why you believe in it. Don't portray the imagine that you believe in something that you don't, because your only lying to yourself. If you can lie to yourself, then you should have no problem lying to other people. If that's the case no one will ever know who you are, not even yourself.

Morals, opinions, and beliefs are in my humble opinion; the main attributes that make peoples personalities differ from person to person. Whether it be about what kind of food they eat, clothes they wear or even the car that they drive. An opinion can never be a “wrong answer” to a question…or can it? It is said that “only god can judge us”, but everyone has their own opinion on all subjects whether they would like them to be known or not. Anyone that reads this will have an opinion of it one way or the other. Personally I do not care about what someone might think about me if it's not positive or at least constructively criticizing. When your opinions are not affected by the opinions of others, you get a better understanding of who you are as an individual. Personally I don't think an opinion can be “wrong answer”, but then again that's just my opinion.

If this gave you a chance to challenge yourself, even if just for a second, to think about the questions asked and come up with an answer within your mind base on your morals, opinions and/or beliefs, then these words were not written in vain. That's Mind Exercise.

myself, i\'m against the death penalty because it puts the decision to kill into a mans hand just like the original murder. Seems that opinions are no longer allowed. We have titles for opinions, viewpoints and observations that discredit our so-called universal opinions. We use words like \"playing the race card\", simpathiser, terrorist, extremest, hippie, conservative, or conspiracy theorist when people speak out against what we\'re told is the right opinion. Listen to yourself when you feel something. Don\'t be quick to tell yourself you\'re wrong because it\'s not what \"they\" say. Also, listen and assume that someone else\'s opinion is valid when listening. We cant learn if we assume that someone is about to say something ridiculous before it is said.

I must say that really made me think! I pride myself on being a very opinionated person, but while reading this I realized that I just dont have an answer to some of the very valid questions you raised. This deffinitly gave me a chance to challenge myself.
I look forward to the next mind exercise!
