What are the physical causes of depression? Well I can think of many physical causes, for instance:
- Trying to recover from a major illness like open heart surgery, cancer and chemo, loss of sight, hearing,I could go on and on but you get the message.
- The psychological issues that we face each day which cause us to neglect our health, thus bringing on physical problems.....Loss of a loved one, loss of job or other career issues, some medications (Like long term high blood pressure meds),heredity, stress, and sometimes a major life occurrence.
I like to think of depression as a kind of fog or weather funk that has entered your aura or space. In this article we will attempt to gain some insight into this perplexing matter.
Chemical imbalance in the brain, seems to be linked to depression. These chemicals are called neurotransmitters, they are as follows:
- serotonin
- norepinephrine
- dopamine
Now the artificial replacement of these chemicals tend to relieve some of the more serious symptoms of depression but more often than not some good therapy is prescribed along with the meds for a maintenance program....and this goes on for several months until the patient is fully recovered.
Baby Boomers seem to be quite vulnerable to depression for several reasons:
- Job and /or career stress
- Keeping up with the Joneses stress
- I'm in over my head upscale house and car payment shock stress
- My upscale brat kids need to keep up with the Jones kids stress
- It cost me as much money as my Dad earned in a year just to eat out and feed the family stress.
I have lived on both sides of this fence. As a Boomer myself I knew no other way of life than being up to my Knickers in debt, large house payments and car payments.....cell phones for the grandchildren...hiring people to do my house work....and the decadence just went on and on. The sad note here is that I was not alone in this kind of living. Everyone I knew was operating the same way...all Baby Boomers.
Again,I could go on forever...but you get the picture.I guess this story ends with some wisdom from someone who has been there and back.I think the physical causes of depression are quite often brought on by our rat race life style.Once I stopped living over budget I was fine.
Try it.....but only if you love peace of mind.
