11 Health Benefits of Avocado

Here is a good article about the benefits of avocado.

I always find lucky the people who live in tropical countries. They are lucky because virtually every kind of fruits, especially rich in vitamin C, are grown there. Someone can find any fruits, orange, banana, avocado and others in those countries. Acceptedly, the main reason in the cultivation of these fruits is climate characteristics. Such countries are always hot and this temperature factor lets many kind of fruits grow there. My favourite one is, of course, avocado because I know numerous benefits of it. I wrote this article because I want to share those benefits with you.

Avocado is grown especially in Mediterranean countries like Portugal, Italy, Spain. Additionally, it is grown in Mexico, Uruguay, Brazil, Peru, Australia, New Zealand, India, China and South African countries where the temperature never go below five degrees, even during the winter season.

Here are the most well-known health benefits of avocado for both adults and kids.

  1. It protects cholesterol related heart diseases. It reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
  2. It is used both in prevention and treatment of prostate and breast cancers. Scientists have proved that a toxin in avocado kills the cancer cells. So-called toxin has a great effect on the tissues, particularly heart muscle tissues.
  3. Avocado includes necessary minerals like potassium, calcium, vitamin C and K, folic acid, copper, sodium and dietary fibers. These are used to provide the mineral necessity of the body. People who live in hot climates have great mineral and water loss. So, avocado is suggested strongly by the medicals.
  4. Oleic acid in avocado can be used to lower cholesterol level in the blood.
  5. Potassium in avocado regulates pressure of blood.
  6. Sodium reduces the risk of high blood pressure and stoke.
  7.  It improves the ability of the body to absorb carotenoids.
  8. Avocado is used to help people who have sexual problems.
  9. It is a good antioxidant.
  10. It can be used in the treatment of skin disorders.
  11. It is used to heal people who suffer from digestive and circulatory problems.

Don't forget that one avocado a day keeps the doctors away.

Although the creamy rich Hass avocados are generally available throughout the year, they are the most abundant and at their best during the spring and summer in California and in October in Florida. During the fall and winter months you can find Fuerto, Zutano and Bacon varieties.

Avocados contain oleic acid, a monounsaturated fat that may help to lower cholesterol. In one study of people with moderately high cholesterol levels, individuals who ate a diet high in avocados showed clear health improvements. After seven days on the diet that included avocados, they had significant decreases in total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol, along with an 11% increase in health promoting HDL cholesterol.

Enjoying a few slices of avocado in your tossed salad, or mixing some chopped avocado into your favorite salsa will not only add a rich, creamy flavor, but will greatly increase your body's ability to absorb the health-promoting carotenoids that vegetables provide.

The flesh is typically greenish yellow to golden yellow when ripe. The flesh oxidizes and turns brown quickly after exposure to air. To prevent this, lime or lemon juice can be added to avocados after they are peeled; vitamin C in the juice acts as an antioxidant. The avocado is very popular in vegetarian cuisine, making an excellent substitute for meats in sandwiches and salads because of its high fat content. The fruit is not sweet, but fatty, flavorful, and of smooth, almost creamy texture. It is used as the base for the Mexican dip known as guacamole, as well as a filling for several kinds of sushi, including California rolls. Avocado is popular in chicken dishes and as a spread on toast, served with salt and pepper. In Brazil and Vietnam, avocados are frequently used for milk-shakes and occasionally added to ice cream. In the Philippines, a dessert drink is made with sugar, milk, and pureed avocado.

Thanks for the article. Recently i just started to consume avocado. I always blend & mix it with honey. In order to get the best result, it's better not adding something such as creamy milk, chocolate, or other fat ingredients into avocado.

This is the worst load of propaganda I've ever read. It's unsubstantiated quasi-scientific bollocks with no references!!

I mean for example

8.Avocado is used to help people who have sexual problems

If you are looking to cure something, there are no cures... But if you are looking for a healthy way to flush toxins from your body, eating fresh is the only way to go. Fresh fruits and vegetables have natural enzymes, chemicals, and vitamins that when used or consumed give your body a natural help in flushing your system of toxins, including natural body toxins. I like this article and this site because if researched further most people would be able to give an honest review of the difference in their over-all health when eating fresh. Using fresh can help the body in so many different ways it is endless to think that one particular is the only way to go if when putting it all together does your body react. Everybody knows toxins are bad so remember this when you eat or bathe you are not just consuming to live you are soothing your soul.

Excellent artical gets people thinking about eating fresh healty foods and the many health benefits that come with it.

Dont worry go get yourself some avocados and get some relief, who knows you may even be able to ween yourself off viagra???

I consumed avocado for the first time a few weeks ago and loved it. Unfortunately, a few days ago I woke up with my eyes glued shut - which I now suspect may be the result of either being allergic too it or having eaten too many at once.

Someone told me that avocado leaves boiled in pandan leaves to make tea are good not only in lowering cholesterol but also in controlling the growth of white hair. If avocado leaves are toxic, would it be safe to drink this avocado tea? Would someone be knowledgeable enough to answer?

The point about Avocados is... there are many more benefits than detriments to eating them.... So I say eat them and be healthy. I am allergic to them and I still eat them because they are yummy and good for me. Try them with TUNA instead of mayo.

Avocados can be grown from seed, but the plants are usually propagated by grafting. They are set in the grove 20 to 40 feet apart depending upon whether the type of growth is spreading or upright. Sometimes they are set at 15 to 20 feet with the alternate plants removed after a few years.
