Spain is in europe as is greece and cyprus. Contradiction in the first two centences don't bode well for the rest of the article. You may want to make an ammendment.

Excellent article, I buy products that use carob instead of chocolate coatings. I learned much more about 'carob' that I never knew probably because it is imported! Thanks for enlightening me.

As a matter of fact, the hubby just brought back a bag full of dried fruit of carob (pods with seeds) and I loved snacking the pods. How can I use the seeds to grow my own tree (in florida)?

Carob is THE greatest remedy for diarrhea, folks. Not only for people, but for dogs, as well. Just mix it with some applesauce, or with some vanilla yogurt in a smoothie. Tastes somewhat like cocoa, but the important thing is that it works like a charm.

All the mediterranean countries probably have carobs. But Portugal is one of the oldest countries in the world that has and procuces carobs, specially in south Portugal: Alentejo e Algarve. In portuguese it's named Alfarroba.
