Broccoli – Italian Vegetable

Broccoli is an Italian vegetable. It is grown and used mostly in California and Arizona, United States. It is edible vegetable, and looks like cauliflower.

Broccoli is a plant of the cabbage family. It contains proteins, nutrients and is highly in vitamin C. It contains carbohydrates, calcium and magnesium. Broccoli leaf is edible and contains more beta-carotene proteins.

There are three types of broccoli, those are mainly Purple cauliflower broccoli, which is edible in southern Italy, Spain and UK, Romanesco broccoli, and Sprouting Broccoli.

Broccoli resembles cauliflower, but it is in green color. Broccoli is a cool-weather crop and highly grows in California at temperature between 65-75 degrees.

Usually Broccoli boiled or steamed, but can be eaten. Due to boiling, it has been shown to reduce the levels of suspected anticancer compounds in broccoli. By other preparation methods such as steaming, microwaving and stir-frying have been shown not to reduce the presence of these compounds.
