You'd never think it were possible to overdose on caffeine, but let me tell you it is. According to research it does take a lot to O.D. but most people never think twice about grabbing a soda at the A&W restaurant to gulp down with their food. With this in mind, although it takes a lot to O.D. an overdose for seasoned caffeine fiends is very possible.
In extreme doses caffeine can cause heart palpitations, in more extreme cases worse. Caffeine naturally is a stimulant, used to keep us awake during the hours of work and play, many people become addicted to it. I have had caffeine withdrawals myself, but it was not until a short while back that I found out caffeine can kill if used in excess.
My suggestion after much research is, lay off the soda in favor of juices or better yet water. If you want to drink soda I suggest countering every glass of soda with two glasses of water, this dulls the effects of the caffeine making it less potent.
Oddly enough symptoms of caffeine poisoning can also mirror those of parkinson's disease, namely tremors. Acute caffeine poisoning is not a pretty sight needless to say. I used to drink sodas instead of water, I could not stand the taste(or rather lack thereof) of water.
Now though, cool refreshing water has become my best friend. If you must have your coffee and soda fix, may I suggest decaf? Better safe than sorry. Thanks all for reading
