Chamomile

Herbalists throughout history have recommended chamomile tea to soothe nerves and irritability.

To make a cup, steep one or two teaspoons of dried chamomile flowers in a cup of hot water for four minutes. Cover the cup during steeping so the fragrance doesn’t escape.

Chamomile tea also helps relieve inflammation and can be used to soothe sore gums. Use it as you would a mouthwash, swishing it around in your mouth for at least thirty seconds before spitting it out. For convenience, you can brew up some chamomile tea and keep it in the refrigerator for up to a week.

The same chamomile tea can be used for a once a week face rinse to help keep your skin smooth, especially in harsh weather. It is mild enough to use on babies’ skin and ever your dogs and cats can benefit from a gentle chamomile rinse on their fur.

Another use for chamomile tea is to perk up the tired, puffy under eye area. Dip cotton pads in cool chamomile tea and set them over your eyes. Lie back and relax for about fifteen minutes, retyping the pads about halfway. Remove the pads and see the difference.
