Here is only a small excerpt from this very important article:
Fact: Fats are vital to your health. They transport oxygen to every cell in your body, and they are the basis for every hormone, brain, and nervous system function.(1)
Fact: Fats are the chemically active part of your cell membranes. Without them, nothing works.
Many products are being sold today advertised as non-fat foods. It is now very well known by some top research nutritionists that foods must contain some fat and in particular, preferably a balance between Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids. Today, instead of seeing the ingredients containing these Polyunsaturated fatty acids, we read ingredients containing hydrogenated, or partially hydrogenated soybean oils, or maybe some level of trans fats, which of course are in the process of being phased out. Hydrogenated oils actually block the absorption of the highly beneficial PUFA's, which are absolutely required for proper body function. These Omega-3 oils control proper disposition of fat intakes, so they can be properly burned by the body during exercise, which keeps a person at their proper weight without the use of "0" fat dieting, which is agreed by some top nutritionists to be very dangerous.
Food Manufacturers Are Out To Make A Profit !
The goal of any company is to make a profit in order to stay in business and Hydrogenated oils give their products longer shelf life, but their profits are the consumer's loss, first in lowering health from weight gain and lowered immunity to many diseases. It is unfortunate, but today we consumers should check the ingredients on all packaged products in the supermarket and if the words "hydrogenated, or partially hydrogenated are seen, we should look for another product of similar type that does not contain these oils.
