Five Great After School Snacks for Kids

Great healthy snacks for kids after school.

Kids return home from school often very hungry.Mothers often wonder about what snacks to prepare for their little ones. Preparing and feeding a healthy snack is much more important these days. Here are 5 great snacks for kids:

  1. Whole Wheat Oatmeal Pancakes

    Take about two cups of whole wheat and add a pinch of baking soda. Soak 1/2 cup of oatmeal for five min. Make a paste with blender and mix with whole wheat to make thick batter for pancake. Now use a pan to make hot pancakes. Add grated cheese and honey over the top of pancake and serve.
  2. Rick Flake Mix

    Take a cup of rice flakes. They are very commonly available in Asian shops. Add to it coconut, raisins, mixture of nuts and splash of brown sugar with powdered cardamom. Sprinkle drops of water and stir well with a ladle. Set aside for about 20min. Brown sugar can be substituted with honey or even white sugar.
  3. Mixed Bean Snack

    Soak any type of bean(soyabean or green gram) overnight and boil the beans. Add to it a pinch of salt and sugar. Stir well. Add coconut and few other boiled veggies into the bowl of boiled beans. Substitute veggies with slices of sausage or boiled egg if required. Add grated cheese and serve.
  4. Sprouted Bean Over Bread

    Take a cup of sprouted bean. Add two to three cloves of garlic with pepper corns and make it into a fine paste. Spread butter or I Can't Believe It's Not Butter over a slice of bread and add the sprouted bean paste. Add chopped onions, carrot and slices of tofu . Next, add grated cheese on top and bake in a preheated oven for 180*C for 5 min.
  5. Steamed Fish

    Take 1lb of any fish like fillet fish. Make into small slices. Take a cup of thick plain yogurt. Add two tbsp of mustard paste, salt, 1/2 tsp pepper and 1tsp of ginger garlic paste into yogurt and mix well. Dip the fish in yogurt paste and transfer to small pieces of aluminium foil. Add slices of butter on top of fish and wrap each piece of fish in aluminium foil. Steam in a steamer for 10 minutes and serve.
