Five Tips to Lowering Cholesterol

Do you have a problem lowering your cholesterol? Here are some tips to lower your cholesterol.

Eat Cheerios

Try eating a bowl of Cheerios. You should eat the ones in the yellow box. Beta-glucan, which is found in Cheerios, can reduce serum cholesterol, a major risk factor in heart disease. In addition to eating Cheerios, in conjunction with a diet low in saturated fats and cholesterol, can reduce the risk of heart disease.

Eat Dannon Yogurt

Try to eat three cups of Dannon Yogurt a week.

Drink Lipton Tea

Drinking tea may actually help control cholesterol. The tannins in tea seem to help the body maintain normal cholesterol levels.

Eat Quaker Oatmeal

Eat one cup of Quaker Oatmeal a day for approximately three weeks. It lowers harmful *LDL cholesterol by about 20 percent and raises helpful *HDL cholesterol by about 15 percent.

Use Star Olive Oil

Supplement a strict low-fat diet with two or three tablespoons of Star Olive Oil every day. Olive Oil is high in monosaturated fat, which may lower cholesterol.

I hope these tips work for you. You can use any or all of them and you should lower your cholesterol.

*LDL - low-density lipoprotein - it's found in meats, milk, eggs, and butter. It oxidizes in the bloodstream prompting immune cells to ingest them. Once full, these immune cells adhere to the walls of arteries, forming plaque and eventually clogging the arteries. This is pretty gross when you think about it.

*HDL - high-density lipoprotein - absorbs LDL cholesterol from the bloodstream and carries it to the liver to be excreted from the body. If the LDL level rises too high, the HDL cholesterol cannot do its job fast enough, leaving excess LDL cholesterol in the bloodstream.

Thanks for your information I know it's cheaper than the medicine I take every day. I take Lipitor and trust me it's expensive.

Great article. I have no issues with cholesterol but I don't care to have them as I get older. I already eat cheerio's for breakfast although it is the cinnamon flavored ones. I also eat yogurt that claims to lower cholesterol as well (that's not why I eat it though). Great tips though.

Thank you so much for the compliment. I don't really have cholesterol problems either, but I do know some people who do have them. That's good that you are doing things to prevent it from happening.

That's great that you are in good shape, Dan. That's strange that your cholesterol is high. Do you have any relatives that have high cholesterol? That could be why you have it too.
