We all know that Garlic is the ultimate protection from Vampires but did you that it helps in the fight against infection? Garlic has healing qualities that may be more beneficial than we had first anticipated. In the medical journal, Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, findings have shown that the therapeutic qualities of garlic are now proven to help fight infection and fungal infections. There is now biochemical evidence to support these claims.
Garlic has been used in cooking as a flavoring taste sensation by many cultures who claim the use of this vegetable to be beneficial to our health. We know that it helps a cold or flu but it can also help skin ailments like acne and some of the fungal type infections like Candida. It is a powerful antioxidant which means that it helps the body to remove the damaging ‘free radicals’ from your system. ‘Aillicin” is created when the clove is crushed; it is responsible for the pungent smell and is the main biologically active ingredient.
There are many health supplements that are available that contain Garlic without having to resort to crushing a clove and eating it with a spoonful of honey. I personally do not mind doing this as it seems to clear the head very quickly and is most effective when cold or flu symptoms appear. It is cost effective too.
There are many recipes that use garlic and I am sure that if we use in on a regular basis in our cooking then we probably get the benefits afforded to us from using the vegetable.
