Drinking green tea will do your body good.
It has been suggested by some people to drink about 2-3 cups of tea a day. It is truly up to you how much you want to drink, but at least one cup a day is highly recommended. A past co-worker once told me she drank approximately 6 cups of green tea a day and had not been sick for over a year or more!
As most people already know, tea in general is filled with more powerful antioxidants that will help stave off free radicals (which are damaging agents we are exposed to on a daily basis, for example, like pollution). Free radicals are so harmful to our systems that they have been known to cause cell and DNA alterations and even cause cellular death. In addition, it is believed that free radicals speed up and propel the aging process, cause heart disease and even cancer.
For many years tea has been regularly consumed throughout Thailand, China, India and Japan. It has been used to treat regular digestion, improve mental clarity, regulating one's blood sugar and body temperature levels and even as a stimulant. It has also been known to help control bleeding so that wounds heal quicker and as a diuretic.
Some studies even suggest that drinking green tea on a regular basis can help a person lose weight. Because tea is, in essence, flavored water, it can help a person feel fuller throughout the day and satiate that hunger craving with both its pleasant aroma and flavor. Typically, it takes a person's body about 20 full minutes before they know they are full. This process begins the minute one smells a food item, thus just taking the time to smell green tea, can help quell your hunger cravings.
Incidentally, this is another reason why cooking at home is a great way to help you lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
So whether you decide to drink one cup of green tea or more cups, the studies and history of green tea add up to it being an excellent health promoting source of nutrients all wrapped up in one wonderful drink!
