Omega-3 Fatty Acids Can Help Ailments

Multiple cures for diseases and developmental benefits are shown through studies of Fish Oil.

We all want to live longer. To achieve this, we need to understand more about what we eat. I have listed several diseases in the next paragraph. We can limit their effects on our lives. Heart disease is the number one killer in America. It may be difficult for many people to understand the chemical differences in our make up, but I've taken an informative approach to let you know the effects of one natural remedy for many ailments.

If you have elevated triglycerides, prone to heart attacks, abnormal heart rhythms, heart disease, hardening of the arteries, high blood pressures or should you want to prevent these ailments in your life, listen up. All the evidence isn't in. This can't be called medical advice. I'm not a MD, but I'm well read in Medical Journals, and alternative M.D.'s writings. Omega-3 fatty acids come from animals and plants. Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and Eicosapentaenoic acids (EPA) come from Fish Oil while Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) comes from nuts, seeds, and olive oil. Please do not confuse Omega-6 fatty acids in this brief.

Our bodies should be in balance with Omega-3, 6, and 9 fatty acids, but our Omega-6 levels are extremely high. The American Diet, eating on the run isn't the best human diet. Businesses control most fast foods, and the goal of business is to make money. Soybean oil costs less, and is highly used, but Soybean oil doesn't have a balance of Omega fatty acids. The healthiest cooking oil is Olive Oil. I'm allowed this opinion.

I said all evidence isn't in, but let us take a look at the evidence available. One note-few analyzes have been completed dealing with women. There seems to be contradictory evidence between people by sex. In essence, women need less Omega-3s than men for the same benefits, and the negative effects of higher doses of Omega-3s in women are more pronounced. These are indications, but it is not gospel.

Human trails on males and females indicate that a fish oil supplement (EPA + DHA) reduces triglycerides levels in people's blood. The humans, fish oil tests of two grams/day, and 4grams/day, were done with significant reduction of blood fats. This is good for humans. If you take “statin” drugs, fish oils give you additive effects with improved cholesterol HDL, and reduced cholesterol LDL.

With the benefits, we must look at other changes that may not be good on an individual basis. EPA seems to thin blood reducing its clotting. People using blood thinners need to speak with their doctor to control their medications, and prevent abnormal bleeding when using fish oil.

People that consume 2 to 4 grams of fish oil daily have reduced risks of dying by heart attacks, but because of blood thinning consult your doctor if you take more than 3 grams per day. This is the recommendation of the American Heart Association.

People with Rheumatoid arthritis have less pain, and less inflammation taking fish oil. This is an indication, and no more, because of the methodology of the study.

Some studies indicate a reduction in developing hardening of the arteries with the consumption of fish oil. Arteriosclerosis is a very painful condition, which limits physical activity in elderly people, but young people have a far greater chance to avoid this condition by eating fish or consuming fish oil supplements.

High blood pressure is reduced slightly when people take a fish oil supplement. It isn't a fix, but an additive to controlling this measure.

Fish Oil Supplements shows beneficial results in brain development of the unborn to better schooling results in children. As people age, we can get digestive diseases, and nervous system failures like memory loss. Omega-3 consumption studies are young, but we can benefit from using their indications by guiding our habits. We have processed ourselves into shorter lives with less productive life spans. Take heed, and benefit!
