The health benefits that can be obtain from Papaya (Melon Tree):

Do you know that history reveals the natives from what is currently known as South Africa welcomed with feast Christopher Columbus and his crew when they arrived in their area? Some historians affirm natives from that country to the explorers who ate too much food to soothe their upset stomachs. Historians also asserted the Papaya tree is known as the "tree of good health" in Mexico, and its fruit is used to remedy liver problems and irregularity throughout South and Central America.

At present, researchers are discovering that the health benefits of Papaya could expand its health benefits to cure stomach problems. Study shows that Papaya has a potential to be an effective treatment against dehydration because it is high in water and minerals. Papaya has also been found concentrated in Vitamins A and C which can help prevent the most common cause of childhood blindness (xerophtalmia). Papaya contains high levels of beta-carotene, an antioxidant which eradicates free radicals, chemicals that are released when cells breakdown and can cause cancer. This tropical fruit also activates the release of growth hormones, which are both children and adults need for growth and healthy cells.

Sometimes, Papaya seeds are used to purge the body of worms, but, they contain a toxin which affects the nervous system and, thus, should not be eaten regularly or in a huge quantity. This tropical fruit has been discovered as best known for calming stomachs and it alkaline nature makes it excellent for soothing acidic stomachs and ulcers. It also contains papain, an enzyme which helps digestion by breaking down food proteins. People with celiac disease, which normally restrains them digesting the wheat protein gliandia, have been able to digest wheat with papain. The enzyme also appears that it can heal and has painkilling properties. It also seems that laying strips of Papaya on wounds can accelerate healing, and the US Food and Drug Administration has approved papain injections to ease the pain of slipped discs.

Study also reveals that Papaya is also efficient as herbal medicine. Health experts say, constipation can be prevented by drinking at least (8) glasses of water every day, regularly doing exercises and eating plenty of vegetables and fruits like Papaya. Herbalists recommend when suffering from constipation to eat (2) slices of ripe Papaya fruit and follow it with water.

Cool and strain it and drink the decoction. It is advisable for the adults to drink (1) cup of the decoction 3x a day. For children (7-12 years old), it is recommendable to drink (1/2) cup of the decoction 3x a day while (1/4) cup 3x a day for kids (2-6 years old).

It is advised that patients who are struggling from indigestion to stop taking in solid food for about (4) hours. A glass of hot water should be drunk every hour during the 4 hour fasting period. Herbalists recommend people who are suffering from indigestion to eat a slice of ripe Papaya as dessert (30) minutes after consuming a heavy meal. This helps in the digestion of protein.

Drinking plenty of fruit juices like Papaya will help prevent pimples. Papaya can be used as pimple prevention.
