The Health Benefits of Cooking with Olive Oil

Learn how using olive oil in your recipes can be good for your heart, your stomach, your metabolism and your skin.

When you cook with 100% virgin olive oil, you have the peace of mind in knowing that you are protecting your heart. This oil does not contain any cholesterol and is therefore one of the best ways of enjoying fried foods. For centuries, the people of Greece and the areas around the Mediterranean have known about the benefits of using olive oil when cooking. Research has proven that these people are heart healthy because of this facet of their diet.

The taste that olive oil puts on the food cannot be denied. Once you start cooking with this oil, you will always ensure you have a bottle in your pantry. Ordinary potatoes chipped in pieces (not in strips for French fries) and then fried in olive oil makes a great side dish to serve with steak. This oil does not contain any animal fats, which is what makes it so healthy.

Olive oil is compatible with the needs of the organs of the body and does not lead to the development of gallstones, which can be very painful. Gallbladder disease also leads to the need for surgery to remove this part of the body to relieve the pain caused by the stones that prevent the body from excreting bile.

For stomach irritation caused by eating deep fried foods, olive oil is a sensible solution. Because it is friendly with the body, you will not suffer because you eat foods fried or cooked with this oil. It has high nutritional value because it has the ability to maintain the balance of HCI in the body. It helps the digestive system to function the way it should and is the perfect choice if you want to correct or minimize the chances of constipation. Using this oil also reduces the chances of you developing a stomach ulcer.

Olive oil is good for children because it balances the body's rate of metabolism and helps in the development of strong bones. As a source of Vitamin E, it is one of the best anti-aging solutions you can use. You don't have to always use olive oil for frying. It is great for salads, or added to any recipe that calls for the addition of oil.
