Our nutritionists and health experts always tell us to eat fresh fruits and vegetables everyday. They tell us to start eating and living healthy. This is by avoiding fatty foods, junk foods, foods with high sugar and sodium content. If possible, to eat wheat bread instead of white bread, white meat instead of red meat, and the list goes on. I may not be a health expert but based from my experience, I myself can say that eating healthy has many benefits. Yes, food is tempting and there are times we can't say "No". We can indulge ourselves sometimes with our cravings but it is better if we add fruits, vegetables and fish in our diet. It is not bad to eat meat, food preparations with cheese and eggs, but moderation is the key. These foods including some others, if eaten too much, will result to weight gain or even health problems. I listed below some of the reasons why we have to do so.
1. Vitamin A is essential in the maintenance of good vision and unblemished skin. It also helps detroy carcinogens. Carcinogens are cancer producing substances that we intake when we drink coffee (caffeine), eat junk foods (food additives), smoke cigarettes, electronic emissions (radiation) and many more. Vitamin A is also good to those who want to maintain a soft-smooth and young looking skin. Some Vitamin A sources are green leafy, yellow and orange vegetables, avocado, mango, fish liver oils, animals livers, to name a few.
2. Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) prevents abnormal oily complexion. It also prevents or checks "nutritional" cataract and is needed in the maintenance of mucus membranes of the eyes, mouth and tonque. The Vitamin B's are useful in treating depression and anxiety. It can be found in meat, poultry, eggs, cheese, milk, yoghurt, beans, spinach, whole grains and mushrooms. As I've mentioned, meat, poultry, eggs and cheese has to be taken in moderation though as too much of these foods will also cause other health problems.
3. Vitamin B3 (Niacin) alleviates migraine headaches & hypertension due to nervousness. It is also useful in safeguarding the body against pellagra. Vitamin B3 is essential for the proper circulation and oxygenation of the body of healthy skin. These vitamins can be found in cereals, corn, beef, broccoli, fish, carrots, cheese, tomatoes, corn flour, liver, milk, potatoes, and whole wheat.
4. Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine) is the "tonic" member of the B-complex family. It aids for normal pregnancies. Pyridoxine aids in the production of hydrochloric acid and the absorption of fats and proteins needed by the body. It is also a vital element in the metabolism of the amino acids from which are built the proteins that make up most of our body. Deficiency in Vitamin B6 results to anemia, over oily skin, lesions and scaling. The worst result is that the body reduces the ability to fight-off infection. This vitamin can be found in lean meat, fish and eggs, nuts, wheat germ, carrots and peas. Lesser amounts of Pyridoxine can be found in avocado, bananas, beans, brown rice and whole grains.
There will be more health reasons in my next post.
