Short info on vegetables that can benefit your health.

This is a short info i gathered for the convenience of people who would like to stay healthy without the need of buying special nutritional pills or supplements. These are most common everyday vegetables that are available in markets anywhere, well more or less it should be.

  • Kale : Beta carotene is abundant in kale. It is needed by the eyes to allow them to adjust to darkness.Kale is believed to ease lung congestions, its juice is used to treat gastric ulcers.
  • Turnips : Great supply of carbohydrate although low in calories.
  • Cabbage : The dark outer leaves of the cabbage contains 50 times more carotene than the pale internal leaves.Cabbage leaves can be used to be applied directly to wounds, arthritic joints, inflammations, and acne.
  • Broccoli : Very rich in cancer-fighting phytonutrients.
  • Red cabbage : The anti-oxidant pigment lycopene gives red cabbage its color.
  • Cauliflower : High in fibre and low in fat contains vitamin C.
  • Brussels sprouts : Contains the most folate of all the brassicas.
  • Avocados : Useful for boosting the immune system for the elderly but high in calories and fat, should be eaten moderately.
  • Carrots : Richest sources of beta carotene which prevents cancer.
  • Beetroots : Stimulate, liver, kidneys, gallbladder, spleen and bowel and also helps to fight colds.
  • Mushrooms : Prevents clots by thinning the blood.
  • Tomato : Helps treat rheumatism and gout. Good for muscles and braincells. Prevents free radicals damaging joints.
  • Garlic : Anti-bacterial and fungal properties treat heart disease. Fights against food poisoning. Fights influenza B viruses. caution : Galic may also interfere with diabetic drugs.
  • Onions : Remedy for coughs, colds, and bronchitis. Fresh slices of onions can be placed on insects bites to reduce swelling.
  • Chillies : Fight common colds and throat problems.
  • Nori : Help maintain good hearing.
