So you're sitting at a party and see a table covered in food choices. I don't know about you but I reach for the bite-size round Tostitos. Then I looked at what's in them out of curiosity.

And now for the scariest of anything, if the calories didn't frighten you, the actual ingredients *plays dramatic music*.
- Selected white corn.
- Vegetable oil.
- Salt. (So that's why they taste good, addict you and make you thirsty!)
Most Interesting Ingredient? Calcium Hydroxide aka Pickling Lime
It's water mixed with calcium oxide which makes a colorless powder.
Uses other than Tostitos chips include being used in sewage treatment, whitewash, plaster, hair relaxers, baby formula, water processing in making pop and alcoholic beverages, fillers in various car parts and fish aquariums.
The Health Risks of Overexposure?
- Bleeding inside (once you get over Tostito heartburn)
- Hypotension (Although eating too many Tostitos will naturally make you lazier feeling)
- Damaging pH levels in your body (Yay acid!)
- Difficulty breathing (Tostitos may cause dehydration from salt so that won't help either).
- Oh yeah, one more thing, calcium hydroxide is a cancer agent.
I think at the next party, I'll reach for the fruit instead. :)
