10 Ways Not to Eat After Dinner

Feeling fat or chunky? Well, a good and easy way to help get rid of unwanted body fat is to stop eating after dinner.

Many people are concerned with how much they weigh; it doesn't matter how old you are. One of the reasons many people get over-weight is because they eat after dinner. A usual dinner at my house contains a salad, two vegetables, meat, milk, and sometimes dessert. We usually eat around 6:30p.m. every day depending on everyone's work schedule. After about 9:00p.m. we all start to eat junk food such as: chips, ice cream, chocolate, and other sweets. Many people do the same thing. Usually when you're fixing yourself and after-dinner snack, it's food that is unhealthy and makes you gain weight faster. If you're serious about losing weight, ditching the after-dinner snacks would be a grand idea! Here are a couple of ways to not eat after dinner.

  1. Just say No to yourself!

Tell yourself the simple two letter word, no. Sometimes telling yourself no is extremely hard, so you come up with excuses to get what you want. It's human nature, everyone does that. Just tell yourself, "no," when you have that sudden urge to have a after-dinner snack. This will take some practice, but the results are worth it!
  2. Brush Your Teeth

I know this sounds weird, but it works! When you brush your teeth, and eat food; the food usually tastes really bad. After dinner, you should brush your teeth so you don't eat afterwards. Or, you can brush your teeth when you feel the urge to have an after-dinner snack. No one will complain because this will help you have a nice white smile and your breath won't smell bad.
  3. Chew Gum

If you're chewing gum when you have the urge for an after-dinner snack, the gum keeps your mouth busy and your stomach at bay. A piece of sugar-free gum can fool your body into thinking that you're eating something, and your hunger magically goes away.
  4. Keep a Food Diary

When you keep a food diary, you write down everything that you have eaten during they day. This makes you aware of what you're eating, and how much you are eating it. Most likely, seeing what you have eaten during the day will make it easier to not eat at night.
  5. Go to Bed Early

After dinner, you can get done whatever chores you need to get done. If you have if you have to do the laundry, clean up messes in the house, or clean your floors. After you're done with your chores, brush your teeth, wash your face, and go to sleep. Set a bedtime for about 10:00p.m. because that gives you at lest eight or more hours to sleep. During the day you will have more energy and stamina because you went to bed early.
  6. Do the Buddy System!

When you were younger, and went on field trips at school, you had to had to stay by a whole bunch of your friends. Do the same thing with not eating after dinner, if one or more people are doing this with you, there will be less of a temptation to have an after-dinner snack.
  7. Exercise

Exercising makes you burn calories, which makes you lose or help maintain weight. You should exercise for about 30-60 minutes after dinner. You know, put in your favorite work-out video, go to the exercise section on On Demand, or go for a long walk. This will keep your mind off of food, and will tire you out so that you will go to bed earlier.
  8. Read More

Get absorbed in a good book. Usually, if you really like a book you can read it for hours without thinking about anything until you get tired enough to fall asleep. You see, you won't be thinking about food, and you'll be exercising your brain!
  9. Draw or Paint

Buy some cheap crayons or color pencils, or some cheap watercolor paints. Then after dinner just go crazy making your art work! Painting or drawing can also work as a stress reliever after a bad day at the office. So you can relieve your hunger pains by staying busy, and relieve your stress at the same time. Send your art work to your friends to make their day!
  10. Keep a Journal

Record all of the problems you are having with work, significant other, or just emotional problems that you don't want to tell anyone. This will help you not eat because you of your problems. You will also feel better about yourself! Happy not eating after dinner!
