A Dozen of Foods That Help Reduce Weight

A list of recommended foods that can be of help for those who are trying to lose weight.

This is a sequel to my article entitled “Five Ways to Reduce Weight.”

If you're dieting the food you eat should meet the nutritional needs and should maintain your energy. Nutritionists recommend a diet containing 55% carbohydrates, and not more than 15% protein and 30% fat. Keep this balance and a weight-loss diet doesn't feel like being deprive.

What foods are good to eat? Here are some choices that taste good and will help you lose weight;

Bananas

They are tagged as “the complete food.” A potassium rich food and help lower blood pressure. You can also blend a frozen banana, one tablespoon of frozen blueberries and one-half cup of apple juice, it has almost no fat.

Tuna

A half-cup serving of water-packed tuna can provide the needed fat and protein.

Tofu

This is a tasty protein-packed substitute for high-fat meat and poultry. Suitable for stir-fries, casseroles braises and soups.

Soya Bean Milk

This is rich in phytoestrogens (this help reduced prostate and breast cancer) and high in protein.

Noodles

These are rich in carbohydrate, no fat with a bit of protein. A cup of rice noodles (boiled or steamed) can be served with stir-fried vegetables.

Prawns

They have more cholesterol than most shellfish, but low in saturated fat and contain a small amount of heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids. Best serve either boiled or grilled.

Pineapple

Two large slice offer flavor, fiber and 100% of the recommended daily allowance of vitamin C, absolutely no fat. Eat fresh or add its sweetness to soups, sauces or curries.

Dried Cuttlefish

Have fun chewing it like a chewing gum, it gives a lot of protein and some iron.

Duck Breast

Roasted, w/o the skin gives you 10% fat plus iron, zinc, and B group vitamins.

Tomato Eggflower Soup

This nourishing soup can be prepared in a few minutes w/ homemade chicken stock. This is a great meal starter to fill you up and curb your appetite.

Chicken

Baked, grilled or microwaved, minus the skin gives you a plenty of protein and a bit of fat, and

Cantaloupe

A cup (cubes) packs more beta carotene and as much vitamin C as half a cup of orange juice.

Dieting doesn't mean that you have to avoid eating, instead it means eating the right foods needed with balance and proportion.
