Are They Really 'the Biggest Loser'

This is my opinion on losing weight by this method. It doesn't have to be yours.

This is the second season of the biggest loser in Australia and I admit I find it addictive to watch. For those who haven't seen it it's a reality television show where 'over voluptuous people' need and want to lose weight and all other avenues have failed them. Each week a contestant is voted out by their team mates until three are left standing where they then go home to lose as much weight as they can in the allotted time through physical training and diet where they reappear as a thinner version of themselves at the finale reunion where we get to see all the contestants and their progress. The person out of the three finalists who have lost the most body fat weight percentage become 'The Biggest Loser' and the winner of $200,000. As much as I love to watch this show I don't agree with how they lose the weight. Losing up to 100 kilograms in 4 months is not the healthy way to do it and I believe it's dangerous and it's consequences out way it's rewards.

I also love to watch the American trainers Jillian and Bob but Jillian's motto of she doesn't stop the first workout until a contestant vomit is dangerous.

Also, the contestants are obviously carrying a lot of weight and workout a few hours a day so needless to say it wouldn't surprise you for me to tell you the contestants receive many injuries and experience heart scares and still work out with the injuries. Yes, there are medics on standby but in my opinion it borders on dangerous.

Then the contestants are dropping large amounts of weight quickly like 15kg a week. It's not giving the skin to elasticize properly to the rapid weight loss so your left with loose skin and in the case of the men loose saggy men boobs.

When the show is no longer paying for their trainer and their left in the real world are ALL the contestants keeping the weight off or do they put the weight back on when they drop down their exercise to the 'norm' instead of doing the five hour intensity training. Last years winner of the biggest loser spent his winnings on plastic surgery to get rid of the loose skin and saggy man boobs due to dropping the weight quickly.

So I ask the question are they really 'The Biggest Loser' ?.

It would be easier having a personal trainer, I think. Still very hard work and a lot of determination.
