The number of people classified as ‘obese’ in Australia has reached epidemic proportions. The problem of obesity affects all age groups, and is mainly due to the lack of exercise and poor diet for many of those affected.
Despite the apparent simplicity and accessibility of the solution, many Australians remain unwilling to respond to and effectively tackle the problem. However, I guess it is hard to break old habits, such as watching inordinate amounts of TV, consuming copious quantities of food loaded with fat and sugar, and preferring to drive rather than walk for those short trips to the corner store.
However, I guess we can’t criticise Mr Howard on this one, because rain hail or shine, he’s “up and at ‘em” for his well-known early morning walks.
