Bankers Beware: Stress Adds Inches To Your Waistline

Amidst the fast-paced competition that financial institutions are currently tackling, bank employees are becoming aspirants to the grueling disease of obesity. Now that they are promoting longer banking hours to service a bigger scope of clientele, these bankers are having less time to focus on their physical fitness. In a study in the International Journal of Obesity, weight gain is linked with elevated work stress and high work overtime. Some factors that can be associated with anxiety at the workplace are most of them are too exhausted to prepare healthy meals and are tempted to gorge on salty, fat-induced chips and sugary foods. Here are tips on how to be less plagued with excess pounds:

  1. Never skip breakfast.

    There are plenty of studies that say healthy people have breakfast regularly.
  2. When stressed at work, take at least 3 minutes to breathe deeply.

    Do not grab the bag of chips inside your drawer.
  3. Walk around.

    Walk around the office or go to the restroom when you feel the need to eat
  4. Drink Water

    Drink lots of water
  5. Pack Your Lunch

    Try to bring your own packed healthy lunch instead of buying at the cafeteria or fast food chains
  6. Brush your teeth after lunch.

    The sugary taste of the toothpaste helps in controlling your sweet tooth.
  7. Share the Wealth

     If your officemate is offering you a box of doughnuts or chocolates, just get one and share the rest
  8. Avoid munching junk food on the way to work.

     Chew gum instead.
  9. Eat in the afternoon

     Eat plenty in the afternoon but avoid consuming carbohydrates in the evening when our body has a slower metabolic rate
  10. Just keep moving.

     Do not be lock yourself on your desk.
