For a lot of Americans , losing weight feel like an up hill battle. They would rather pull their teeth out than tackle losing weight.
Here is the simple math to losing weight: If you take in 3,500 fewer calories than you burn, you will lose a pound of fat. Hence, if you can have a calorie deficit of 500 calories a day, you'll burn about pound of fat a week (7 times 500 is 3,500), which is approximately 50 pounds a year.
You can easily cut this many calories from your diet by following these 10 rules:
- Exercise for 15-20 minutes. Even if you start by just walking the dog around the block, you have to get your body moving. It will not only help you loose weight, but it is great for your heart and bones as well. Just commit to 15 minutes a day. That's really not that hard at all. And be sure to take it easy. There is no need to stress your heart out just start by doing a brisk walk for 15 minutes a day.
- Drink water. Replace soda with water. It will cut a few hundred calories a day.
- Replace a fatty snack with veggies. Cut out the fat. It is loaded with calories. Try veggies with low fat dressing or baked chips instead. Potato chips, fries, anything that's greasy -- those are laden with calories.
- Have sex daily. Sex is great exercise. It's as simple as that. You can burn about 100 calories having it.
- Eat a healthy breakfast. A bowl of cereal - even sugary cereal- is a great way to start the day. Use low or non fat milk. Add some juice and even some scrambled eggs, and you've go a great start to the day.
- Use non-fat milk in your latte. You will shave hundreds of calories a week by requesting non fat milk in your coffee drinks.
- Skip butter. You will spare your self 200-300 calories a day if you skip the butter on that bread or roll.
- Go with red pasta sauce, not white. Red sauces have tomato bases, while white sauces have cream bases. The difference between them consist of hundreds of calories.
- Eat baked chicken, not fried. Frying oil is nothing but fat, and your chicken will absorb quite a bit of it when fried. Be sure to remove the skin on your chicken, bake it, and put lots of herbs on it.
- Eat slower and skip the seconds. Eat slowly, and you'll get full faster. Also, even if you are feeling hungry after your initial helping, wait for about 20 minutes. The feeling of hunger will often, disappear.
11th rule for good measure:
- Go for pretzels, skip the nuts. All nuts contain tons of fat and calories. Instead, snack on hard pretzels, which can satisfy the salt craving without the fat.
