Obesity has been considered as one of the most controversial issues in societies today. Obesity can be defined as natural energy reserve that is stored within human fatty tissues that exceeds the healthy limits. It has been a major concern as a public health problem throughout many different societies from all over the world, majorly in the U.S. People have been trying to decrease the rates of obesity that are drastically growing within the societies. Obesity not only affects the outside appearances of people but it impacts human bodies in a variety of ways. There has been an enormous effort to stop the growth of obesity; however, this problem continues to persist.

Obesity has been measured by the commonly used measurement "Body Mass Index". This measurement is a simple way to determine obesity rates according to the ratio of mass and weight. This measurement has been an effective and efficient way to calculate the suitable body mass that each individual should have. Below is a list of BMI (Body Mass Index) that indicates whether the person has obesity presence:

  • A BMI less than 18.5 is underweight
  • A BMI of 18.5-24.9 is normal weight
  • A BMI of 25.0-29.9 is overweight
  • A BMI of 30.0-39.9 is obese
  • A BMI of 40.0 or higher is severely

This table will be able to give people an idea of how BMI works. The common way to calculate the BMI is kg/m2 or for the U.S, it would be lb * 703 / in2. BMI will offer people the idea on where they stand right now. It is crucial to consider obesity has an important issue, as the growing rates of this disease are dominating lives of many people.

To be a little more specific about obesity, this particular health problem not only impacts the appearance of oneself but as people look deeper into this problem, obesity has the potential to cause deadly diseases. Some of the most common diseases that obesity can create are; cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, sleep apnea and also osteoarthritis. It sounds a little harsh but that is the reality of this health issue. Many people are experiencing this problem and solutions are made everyday but when it comes to efficiency, we do not know which one works.

Obesity might sound extremely hard to avoid and resist, but it is a very simple thing to prevent. Obesity really depends on you and how you control yourselves. It is important to exercise regularly and consume healthy diets and that does not mean to become anorexic. Consuming healthy diets plays a major part in controlling BMI and having healthy lifestyles. Healthy diets include everything and not just vegetables and not just meat; it has to be the combination of both. However, healthy diet is not enough to offer you those sexy bodies. It is also important for you to exercise and remain fit for better health.

Stop eating all those junk food like chips, hamburgers, ice cream and so on and start eating healthy. It sounds hard and disgusting to eat when you think about those nasty vegatables, but you want those slim bodies, right? Start eating healthy. Hope this is useful and thanks for reading.
