In a world where 1 out of 2 Americans are overweight diets are becoming ever more popular. Most dieting plans today promise a quick change while still eating your normal foods. Of course most people who have any knowledge of nutrition know that you have to do something more. And there lies the problem. People today want to be skinny now! A few pounds a week just aren't enough for them.

Dieters need to recognize that simply saying I'm on a diet isn't going to cut it. You need to actually follow the rules of your diet. Exercise is key even when not dieting. Eating healthy may allow you to lose a little weight but exercise will increase that amount.
When choosing a diet plan find the one that's right for you, this might mean trial and error. Talking to your doctor might also be a good idea he knows your health best next to you.
Dieting too much can be bad for you too believe it or not. Diets that diminish consumption of carbohydrates can leave you feeling slow and tired. This is because carbs are the bodies main source of energy. Carbs really have little to do with fat, calories are more important. It doesn't matter if you eat 100 calories of low carb bread or 100 calories a hot fudge sundae. It's still 100 calories, and that still leads to fat if some of those calories are not burned of with activity.
Try a diet for a week or two. You should feel like you're on a diet, perhaps a little bit hungry here and there. But if you start feeling sick or tired you're probably hurting your body. If this happens then you should go back to your normal routine for a week or two and then find a different diet.
Most important however is to talk to your doctor about your weight and the weight you would like to be. Many people go on diets without consulting anyone and their diet either falls through or in the worst cases they become sick.Dieting should be healthy and benefit your body and your mind not hurt it. So remember to find your median.
