Fad Diets and Why They Don't Always Work

How to really lose weight and stay healthy, the right way.

There are a lot of Fad diets out there: such as low fat , low carbohydrate, high protein, grapefruit , cabbage, etc. study shows that these diets lack nutrients such as dietary fiber and carbohydrates , vitamin and minerals, your body needs to receive the proper amount of nutrients so it will not develop serious health problems later in your life.

Study show that fad diets tend to have:

  1. Recommendations that promise a quick fix that sound too good to be true
  2. Recommendations based on a single study.
  3. Dramatic statements that are refuted by reputable scientific organizations
  4. Lists of "good" and "bad" foods
  5. Recommendations made to help sell a product
  6. Recommendations based on studies published without review
  7. Recommendations from studies that ignore differences among individuals or groups
  8. Eliminates one or more of the five food groups

Devoting yourself to a lifestyle that includes regular exercise and eating a proper diet with moderate portions is still the best method to losing weight and keeping it off. The two key components is nutritional intake and exercise. This varies from person to person, fads diets may produce results, in most cases, but the results are not lasting.

There are a lot of diets out there that involve omitting certain foods and sometimes even entire food groups.

Your main focus should be on your nutritional intake.

How to Lose Weight the Healthy Way

Studies have proven that the key to losing weight is to have control over the number of calories intake. to have a successful weight loss is to make changes in your eating habits and physical activity, such as walking, and exercising. You can do this by creating a plan for healthy eating and physical activity. Which may help you lose the weight and keep it off. As a word of caution: be sure to talk to your health care provider before using any weight-loss product, such as a supplement, herb, or over-the-counter medication.

Here are some tips for you in losing weight and staying healthy:

  1. Choose fresh fruits and vegetables.
  2. Lower your fat intake by eating a plant-based diet.
  3. Choose products (like breads and pasta) with whole grains over those with white flour.
  4. Allow yourself an occasional treat, so you don't feel deprived.
  5. Eat fish instead of meat. Fish is a healthy, lean protein.
  6. Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water per day.

Studies show that next to smoking, obesity is the most common preventable cause of death in the United States. Now you have the tools to eating healthy to lose the weight,  because you are worth it.
