Fast Track to Weight Loss

Losing weight and getting healthy is one of the main concerns in the United States. Stay away from all of those "Fad" diets, because, what you need to know has been there all along!

There are many tried and proven ways on the market, today, to shed those pesky pounds quickly. However, some of them may not be very safe. The fastest, and safest, way to lose weight and to keep it off has been in front of the general public for years. The food pyramid has consistently been the same over the past several years.

The food pyramid holds all of the information, in terms of dieting, that anybody would need to accomplish their weight loss goals sufficiently. Look at the amount of servings that the food pyramid recommends per day for the average person. A correct serving portion is, in all honesty, very small. This is why it is recommended to eat 5 to 6 small meals a day versus three larger meals.

The way eating the smaller meals more times a day works for you, in terms of weight loss, is that it will ultimately increase your metabolic rate over the course of a few days. Your body will respond to the consistent nourishment by pacing itself to burn those calories more efficiently than to store them in fat cells.

With each small meal, look at what is being ingested into your body. Always avoid refined foods such as: Pastas, white breads, and of course sweets. A quick way to make sure a food is not "refined", look at the back of the label. If you see the word "hydrogenated" or "enriched" within the first three ingredients, limit the intake of the food. With foods that contain one or both of those words within the first few ingredients usually will have very low nutritional value and a load of unwanted, empty calories.

Also, take in more fibrous foods, which is where your fruits and vegetables come in handy. A stick of celery consists of almost all water and fiber. Fiber is extremely good for your body from making bowel movements more regular to decreasing cholesterol to healthier levels.

Drinking plenty of water will also help boost your metabolic rate as well as shed quite a few pounds in the very beginning of a diet change. Personally, I don't like to drink water. I found it much more appealing to have a slice of lime or mixed with some flavoring product like Crystal Lite. Hydration is a key factor to lose weight and to keep it off.

Finally, begin a regular exercise routine. Exercising for 30 minutes to 1 hour a day will increase your metabolic rate, build muscle, reduce everyday stress, and just make you feel better. It doesn't matter what TYPE of exercise you do, just as long as you are moving around instead of sitting on the couch and watching the television. Remember, muscle and less stress helps your body burn more calories than what fatty tissue can.
