There is this concept called polyphasic sleep. Where you basicaly sleep, or rather nap, for 20 minutes 6 times a day (Uberman) or 4 times a day for 30 minutes (Dymaxion), thus gaining many "active" hours during a day. You might ask, what does this have to do with dieting? The correlation is very simple - both activities present you with a plethora of benefits, however this comes at a cost.
One of the common costs with both high fat dieting and polyphasic sleep is that they are both something not eagerly accepted by the main stream. Also they are hard to incorporate when trying to socialize with other people.
Obviously when you sleep during the day and are awake and active most of the night having a family does not help. Your schedule would probably clash with theirs and organising common time for meals might give you a headache.
Cooking at Home
Similarly with a diet of low carb high fat... If you are the only person doing it at your house sooner rather than later you will run into trouble. Especially if your partner and / or kinds are fussy eaters. My lovely boyfriend has a very unhelpful list of dietary dislikes:
This makes home cooking a nightmare... Some dishes would not be enough for his appetite, some are not to his taste. Makes me want to throw a spoon at him. And if you are not a big cook to start with, you can imagine how discouraging this can be to following this diet.
You are also lucky if your partner is understanding and at least does not try to ridicule your diet. You could run into not only cooking problems, but also acceptance issues and constant derogative comments.
Eating Out
This gets even harder, especially if you lack in steak houses in your area. Considering your choices are quite limited and even the acceptable dishes will probably be made "low fat" wherever possible, it's not the easiest way to deal with your hunger.
Pricing is also a challenge - everywhere you turn there are plenty of promotions. All the bad things come for free or as part of the package. It's really shocking how hard is to get rid of fries or potatoes from your meal. And they stare at you weirdly when you ask for no french fries, too.
One more problem with going out is that most people when they hear diet, would just stuff you with salad... So going through explaining how your diet looks, dealing with the strange looks and disbelief can be a real challenge.
