My ideal weight is 105 lbs. Last year, I noticed that I ballooned to 118 lbs. I was taking vitamins upon doctor's orders and somehow, it affected my appetite. I ate and ate and ate. Obviously, I gained unwanted pounds.
My dilemma was how to lose the excess weight. First, I stopped eating and started only taking wheat and fruits. The drastic diet change caused falling hair and constant tiredness. I had to stop.
Then I exercised. I walked on treadmills. Did crunches. After a while, I got tired and gave it up altogether. I realized that the best diet is one that I can do on a constant, regular basis. Since I am not really the type who exercises a lot, I changed my strategies to one that required only minimal physical exertion. I started walking.
I walk after every meal. Just slow, unhurried walk. I don't necessarily walk around the block, I just circle our house or even walk inside the house - as long as I am walking. I walk for 30 minutes after each meal.
Then I slowly lessened my carbohydrates intake. The reason for this is that carbohydrates become sugar and is stored for energy. If we don't use this stored sugar it becomes fat deposits. If you lessen your carbohydrates intake, your body will be forced to use the stored fat.
I eat from 6am to 6pm only. This is called the 6 to 6 diet. The logic behind this is our metabolism is fastest before 7pm. I actually consulted my sister, a doctor, on this and she said that it's true, after 7pm our metabolic rate lessens contributing to slower digestion of food. While it is ok to eat after 7pm, it might not be desirable if you are trying to lose weight.
Eat light at night. I don't eat much at night. The reason for this is after dinner, I usually just lazed around, watch tv or use the computer. This means, lesser physical exertion or lesser calories to burn at night. If you eat much and do nothing after, you might store unwanted fats. It is always desirable to expend calories by doing something that requires use of energy.
After doing all these on a constant basis, I noticed losing weight. In 3 months' time, from 118lbs I dropped to 112 then not long after, I achieved my ideal weight of 105 lbs. Losing weight does not happen overnight. Do not try to lose weight in an instant. It is not only unhealthy; it could also be counterproductive in the long run. You have to be persistent against the battle of the bulges. You need to have determination, strong will and exercise self-control. In time, this will translate to a healthier and trimmer you.
