If you too would like to loss inches, first of all you need three pieces of string. No scales for either yourself or your food, no tape measure, just three pieces of string, an open mind and a willingness to lose weight.
Constantly measuring your weight either using scales or in measuring your shape with a tape measure is soul destroying. Throw out the scales and the tape measure, you don't need either. You already know when you have trimmed down. You already know your own body, trust yourself.
When you close your eyes, what is your vision of yourself? Is it thinner, taller, younger, than the image you see in the mirror? That is because the internal image you hold of yourself is in fact the image of your light body. The light body is the core you; it is slender, tall and ageless. Essentially, it is pure energy.
The outer body tends to be a comfort zone, an outer shield we put up for other people. There is nothing wrong with that, it is how we survive.
But I am here to tell you, you can make use of that energy body to slim down the physical YOU.
This works most effectively with those who do not ignore the common sense things of weight control like a sensible diet or some light exercise that will help tone the body.
STEP ONE: "TAKE THREE PIECES OF STRING"
- Use your first piece of string - to measure your size around your bust. Either do this first thing in the morning when you are slimmest or last thing at night when you are at your fullest. Make sure you take the measurement of the widest part of your chest. Trim the string to exactly that measurement.
- Use your second piece of string to measure your waist. Trim your piece of string to fit.
- Use your third piece of string to measure your hips - at the fullest point. Trim that piece of string to fit.
Now you can set these aside for at least a week.
STEP TWO: "OPEN YOUR MIND"
So how does one make use of your light body? Why with your strongest tool - your mind. If you are new to meditation and visualization don't worry. It is only concentration - or focusing your awareness, that is your attention, where you want it to go. If you find your attention faltering just gently bring it back.
The mind is more powerful than you can possibly imagine. If you don't believe me just sit for a minute and think about a slice of lemon - in your mind's eye you can see a slice of lemon sitting on a plate, you can imagine yourself picking it up, your fingers get wet with the lemon juice dripping from it and if you touch it to your tongue (in your mind's eye) it will produce a physical response by increasing saliva in your mouth.
If you open yourself to the certainty that you can control your weight, the power of your mind will make that so.
STEP THREE: "SET THE SCENE"
First I want you to set the image of your light body into your mind.
To do this you need to learn a mind set and if you use the same initial moves every time, you will find this forms a trigger for the future. Read over the meditation several time then allow your own mind to lead the way.
- Lie flat on your back in a quiet warm room where you will not be disturbed.
- Close your eyes and take three really deep breaths, filling your lungs completely than emptying them completely.
- Take your attention - your awareness - to the center of your chest - you have a nice quiet spot there to relax in.
If you listen - you can hear your heart beat.
- Let your mind relax by watching yourself breathe. Think of it as a circle: you breathe in, pause, you breathe out, pause, you breathe in... You don't need to force it, just note how some breaths are short, some long, but form an never ending circle.
- In your mind's eye see an image of yourself where you are lying.
- Let your mind see the outer shell, the physical body.
- Then let your mind sink inward and see the light body.
You will be able to "feel" the shape of the light body. It is tall, it is slender, and it is ageless. It is a shining form of light that is pure energy.
- Concentrate of that form.
While you rest in this frame of mind, you will see/feel your light body and the physical form will fit around it.
- Hold the image as long as you can, letting the real you come to the fore.
When you are ready - come gently back.
STEP FOUR: "GO FOR IT"
Once you have set this form into your mind you can use it often during the day. It is most effective either when you are standing upright or lying flat, and most powerful of all in that half state between waking and sleeping first thing in the morning and last thing at night.
Let the image enter your mind when you are standing at the bus stop, at the check-out of the supermarket, washing the dishes. Try it for a week then take the string test again and see how encouraging it is to be able to trim a bit off the end of each string. Use it as part of your permanent weight control programmed and you are on to a true winner.
