Managing your calorie intake is easier than you think. It does not take much planning. Just good old fashioned common sense, here are some simple tips to easily keep off calories:
- Do not eat while standing up, walking, waiting, reading, watching TV or in the car. Train yourself to eat only in specified areas and situation.
- Keep your refrigerator stocked with healthy snacks such as veggies and fruits. Keep junk foods out of the house.
- Stay away from the table as much as you can during the party
- Make sure you eat before you go to shopping or grocery. This is the best way to pick the healthy foods for you. Sweet snacks won't look as tempting.
- Treat yourself to a fruit, veggies, or salad when you get home from work. This will take care of your hunger pangs and help you plan a reasonable meal.
- A glass of water just before meal lets you feel fuller before digging in
- Act like a chef when preparing your plate and garnish it with fruit and veggies. A colorful plate is more satisfying to your stomach while eating.
- Enjoy your meal. Eat slowly.
- Top it with yogurt or squeeze of lemon juice on that baked potato instead of using heavy sour cream
- Eat something small and healthy about half an hour before your dine out
- Put aside what you do not intend to eat in a restaurant and have the plates taken away as soon as possible, so you won't snack on what's left
- Eat foods that take a long time to eat, such as steamed crabs and peel-and-eat shrimp
A sound diet and exercise program will help you keep in shape.
