After years of swallowing fad diets, no fat, no meat, all organic, all liquid blah blah blah there is finally some good news when it comes to losing weight. Make that fantastic news.
It turns out one of the most successful ways to lose (and keep off!) those unwanted kilos has nothing to do with depriving yourself. Instead, it's all about making the decision to enjoy life.
This new philosophy on weight loss is all centered around the French way of life. France, with all of it's rich cheeses, lucsious pastries, its endlessly passionate love affair with red wine and creamy sauces. And yes, it's all true, French people do actually eat those foods, all the while keeping their obesity percentage under 11% and their rate of heart attack one third of countries like America and Australia.
Turns out there is no hidden secret. No clandestine midnight runs, or under the table diet pills, not even a covert truth about smoking all of those cigarettes. The truth of how the French stay so slim is not that they deny themselves, rather that they burn off all that delicious food enjoying themselves.
For all the years of languishing weight loss failure, it's all very simple. Eat more meals, eat smaller meals, eat well, eat slow and eat in company.
Walk to a fresh market instead of driving to the Supermarket, cook food from scratch instead of zapping frozen meals, and eat with your friends not the TV.
If you don't have the time maybe you should make the time, to start enjoying yourself again.
The French philosopher Michel Onfray, said "I would rather die eating butter than live eating margarine" but in reality, you don't have to make the choice. You just have to enjoy it.
