Losing weight often means regaining it especially if you don't have a partner to lose it with, there is no set program and you return to old habits. A current program on television gets that message across well as twins were monitored for weight loss progress.
They were told to reduce the portions of the food they would eat by a nutritionist but were also advised of an exercise program that they would both follow to encourage themselves.
A certain amount of persuading the individuals had to applied to get them aware of the dangers they faced. This was not intended to scare the subjects although they may have reacted as though they were. They were warned that if they did not drop their caloric intake they would be candidates for diabetes. The warning signs were two: an increasing pigmentation around the neck and higher than normal insulin level which is produced to keep blood sugar levels down.
They were given an exercise program to follow which included jogging outdoors and muscle toning but since they felt hungry after eating, their doctor advised them to go to a nutritionist to see what foods they could eat which would be equally as satisfying but with less fat. Fat in food, especially trans fat is a culprit and the subjects were advised not to any food with that. They were also advised to eat not more than 1.5 of saturated fat in food either.
When encouraged to follow a new diet the twins were introduced to a chef who gave them a tip on avoiding rich cakes, which were their weakness. Applesauce when introduced as a substitute for sugar was seen as a good idea of cutting down on the desert calories.
It was seen that both a consistent exercise program and a better diet lead to a weight reduction. The subjects now have to continue their progress to reach their weight goals and to maintain a healthier lifestyle.
