It's that day again. A large brown box is delivered by U.P.S. and left on the doorstep. I cut the tape off and remove a package of Chocolate Chip Macadamia Nut Biscotti because it's time for the afternoon snack. Yum.
I am not an employee of Nutrisystem or connected in any way with the company so this is unbiased information. The purpose of this article is to assist others who are having difficulty losing weight.
Last month, my first time using Nutrisystem to lose weight, I lost almost 15 pounds. At 5'5” and 185 pounds it was time to try a new diet system.
Menopause, thyroid disease, a bad knee, and simply the effects of reaching the age of 55 had made the diet programs that I used to use no longer effective.
When the food first arrived I read the labels to analyze the contents. Often there is soybean protein added and the foods have a higher protein content than typical packaged meals. They also have plenty of fiber. I theorize that the higher protein and fiber help to make me have a longer energy time period and make me feel full.
The breakfasts might include a breakfast bar that you can take with you, powdered scrambled eggs (which I thought were pretty good), or a small serving of cereal that has a high bran content. You can look on the Nutrisystem website for lists of the foods.
Lunch might be a black bean and rice meal. Frequently the food is in a small container and you add hot water.
In the afternoon you can have a prepared snack, then its dinnertime, and after that you can have a prepared dessert.
I thought most of the food was very good. Of course, it is not the same as a pepperoni pizza with the trimmings but I have sincerely enjoyed the food.
After the first month my weight has gone from 185 to hovering around 173 or less.
For exercise I walked and gardened. Due to a knee problem I am limited temporarily in choices of exercise. Part of the reason the weight loss is so important is in fact to take weight off of the knee that has bursitis and arthritis from an old surgery in order to help the knee improve.
I am also encouraging a friend of mine who is a male in his 70's to try the Nutrisystem program that is for seniors.
The food was satisfying and I had no trouble staying on the diet. I recommend it to anyone who needs to lose weight for health reasons or because they wish to look more slender.
