The Lazy, Fat Person's Guide to Losing Weight with Pride: Kilo Eight - It's Worth the Wait!

Why does this new lifestyle make me feel so different?

Becoming a hitty will take time. Weight will fall off slowly BUT, this gives your skin time to gradually un-stretch. We've all seen those pictures of Courtney Love in the magazines. She is such a beautiful woman, such lustrous lips and shapely legs that never end, but her crash diet unfortunately didn't give her skin time to keep up with what was happening to the rest of her.

No one wants saggy flesh after losing weight. This is why doing it slowly is so important. Time gives our organs, especially our heart, stomach (the key to all this) and skin, good warning to catch up and get in line with the rest of us.

Be prepared to wait, it is worth it.

While no one will see our change for some time, we can reward ourselves by saving up the money we usually spent on desserts and sweets. Put this money aside and at the end of every 10 kilos, buy something new. It will be a treat when about 4-5 months down the line, we drop a size and have to buy a new set of underwear. This is one of the ultimate treats.

It may take others longer to guess what's happening, but that's alright. Our h.i.t will come but when it does, unlike all the other times when we did those stupid diets, this will last. Why is this different? Simple! This is not a diet that we'll do for 3 months, stop, then pile on all the weight again. This is a lifestyle, so this will take longer, but it will last longer - forever from now on.

We will wait, then when the clothes don't fit anymore, we'll give them away. We'll get rid of these old reminders because the need for them will never arise again. Sure, it'll take longer for my friends to notice, and when they ask, “Are you on a diet?” I'll answer, “No, why do you ask?” I'll tease them, but I'll tell them later. I'd have to, it will be clear that I'm different soon enough. Not just in the way I look, but in the way I think about food. The way my stomach feels full when I walk down the street and smell the neighbors dinner cooking. The way I never gobble down treats in private anymore.

I'm full until dinner time these days, that's because I have a snack between meals. Not those fast food preservative-saturated rubbish I used to crave, but nice food, fresh food that makes me feel good and proud (not guilty) when I've eaten them. Food I have to chew and concentrate on eating. Foods like cherries and grapes and nuts that burst with pleasure and flavor, and sweetness when I bite down on them.

My mouth waters for this kind of food. I no longer have to pretend that I eat only healthy foods, by showing off a salad in public, then devouring and ripping the life out of a king sized burger when no one is watching. There is no pretense anymore, what I eat in public, is exactly the same as I eat on the sofa in the evenings while watching my favorite programme.

I don't aim to be skinny and unhealthy. My h.i.t gives me energetic happy health. The kind that ensures I receive all nourishment I need and none of the fat, fizz and rubbish I don't.

The best thing about waiting for my h.i.t is that I'm happy, I'm never starving, yet I'm never feasting on fast food. I'm never craving because I haven't denied myself food, yet I'm no longer stuffing down food when no one watching, feeling guilty for once again cheating on my diet. Hey, I'm not on a diet!

I feel a lot healthier now because my energy levels are getting higher. My body is more used to physical activity because I'm taking steps to make sure I do them. Now I'm ready to take control and be dedicated to pressing forward into Kilos 9 and 10. Kilos 1 to 8 have been firmly set as my new lifestyle.
