Uninsured Women, not of childbearing age, qualify in the state of Illinois for the breast and cervical cancer prevention program. Many other states are also offering these services, which were not attainable before. The only qualification in Illinois is that you are not insured. I suppose if you are rich, you will not qualify, but most of us are not.
Free pap, free mammogram for women over a certain age (I think 40), or younger if you have a suspicious lump or family history. Free follow-up and treatment options as well.
If you have a mother, a sister, an aunt or a friend, who lives in Illinois, please pass this information on and ask them to visit the state of Illinois Gov. Blagojevich webpage for more information on this service, or call their local county health department. Women outside of Illinois can call their local county health department to see if these services are offered, and whether they qualify.
Please pass this information on to any man or woman who you know. Men all have a woman they love and care about.
This issue is important to me as a consumer, and also because I had a friend who neglected to get proper screening and died as a result of cervical cancer. Cervical cancer detected early can have a cure rate of 98% so there is no reason to die from this disease!
If you speak a foreign language, translate and send this as well.
You may save a friend or family members life.
