Coping With Morning Sickness |
|
|
|
by Megan Williams, May 16, 2007 |
Morning sickness can be the toughest part of pregnancy, second to labor and delivery. It can last only a few hours, or even all day long. I personally had “all day sickness”. Here are some tips that helped me personally cope with morning sickness. Remember to always discuss things with your doctor. |
- Eat lots of smaller meals during the day. It can help keep the nausea at bay.
- Eat what appeals to you, even if it’s not a perfectly balanced diet, it’s better than not having anything in you’re stomach.
- If your prenatal vitamins irritate your stomach, ask your doctor about taking 2 chewable vitamins, such as Flinstones instead.
- If you feel you aren’t getting adequate nutrition for you and your baby, ask your doctor about having meal replacement shakes to help in your diet.
- Try to keep something in your stomach, even if its just liquids, because nausea can hit harder on an empty stomach.
- Ask your doctor, he or she may have other tips for helping you. There are many options like extra vitamin B6, Eating more ginger, or even prescriptions if needed.
