Merriam-Webster dictionary simply defined this as painful menstruation. There are lots of women who experience this during their monthly period; they become dizzy or weak, experience cold sweating, irregular bowel movement and even vomiting. Dysmenorrhea is a painful condition which some women consider it as a curse because of the unbearable cramps that goes with their menstruation and this sometimes confined them to bed during the entire period.
Gynecologists said that the condition can partly be stemmed from the opening of the cervix from which blood flows because if the cervix has a tight opening, this makes the passage of blood too difficult and therefore cause pain to the woman. Prostaglandin, a hormone which is believed to increase at the start of the monthly period is one reason for cramps while those that have tumors or pelvic infection will most likely experience also dysmenorrhea.

A heating pad placed on the abdomen or at the lower back can help relieve the pain. Mild alcohol intake may also reduce pain similar to abdominal exercises to be done at least a week before the expected period. She can also lie on her back with her legs elevated on two or three pillows with bended knees or pulled towards the chest. If the condition is unbearable it is best to consult a physician especially if after taking several drugs did not help.
In some Asian countries there are this belief that it is bad for a woman to take a bath during her monthly period and that if she does she would end up deranged. Worst is that some are claiming to have lost their minds and senses because of taking a bath during their period.

Nothing is wrong with taking a bath during one's period. This can even relieve menstrual cramps. During this time, cleanliness plays an important role to women and regular bath should be a part of personal hygiene. Swimming in public places is not recommended unless she uses tampons so as not to contaminate the water in the pool and save women from embarrassment that goes with it.
For women who menstruate twice a month after taking vitamins specially after having a normal menstrual cycle in the past 10 or so years, the medicines you are taking contributes to your irregular periods. Bleeding between periods can be a caused of sudden shift in hormone levels, remember that menstruation is regulated by female hormones estrogen and progesterone and there are medicines that affects the balance of these hormones that sometimes causes frequent, little or no bleeding at all. It is best to consult gynecologist before taking in any medicines during your period.

Drinking tea to some women helps control or totally eliminates the pain but experts said that it all depends on the body's metabolism. Tea that contains theine which is an alkaloid that acts like caffeine has lots of tannic acid and tannin which can irritate one's stomach. This is the reason why people who experience upset stomach or with ulcers are not encourage drinking tea or coffee otherwise it might only double the pain and the symptoms might even get worse.
It may be true that an ordinary cup of tea may have less caffeine compare to coffee but it has enough stimulants the same way coffee has. The tea leaves have twice as much caffeine as coffee beans. A cup of tea may have approximately more than 1 ½ grains of caffeine which could trigger the stimulation of the nerves, kidneys and the heart. Some women do not seem to be affected by this but others experience difficulty in sleeping, experience headaches and jittery nerves especially when they have their monthly periods. During menstrual cycle, the stimulating effect of tea only hides fatigue and does not really give your body the energy it needs.
