Increase intake of foods rich in nutrients and fibers. In fact, middle-aged and elderly women are advised to avoid foods high in fat and cholesterol to prevent from getting cardiovascular diseases. Practice a balanced diet by consuming a variety of nutrients. Women at high risk of suffering osteoporosis have to increase intake of food high in calcium in preparing for menopause.
Exercise regularly
The need to exercise increases with age in order to optimize body functions. A few important considerations need to be noted when exercising, like:
- Choose the types of exercises you enjoy
- Diversify your exercise to escape from boredom
- Cultivate the habit of exercising daily, don't stop halfway
- Switch on the music to create fun during exercise
- Don't go over your limits, exercise with ease
- Don't exercise when you are too full or too hungry
- Wear comfortable clothes
Take up hobbies to spice up your life
Hobbies are like flavors. Life becomes more interesting when you spend some time engaging in things you enjoy like playing piano or chess, painting, keeping fish, collecting stamps, listening to music, karaoke, reading novels, engaging in social activities and so on. In short, you will feel contented when you are occupied.
